13 September 2015 - End of week 30

Lots has been going on at the site over the last four weeks but this week has seen the start of the timber frame structure going up.  It's obviously a very exciting time to see the building start to take shape and the main hall walls and roof are already on after the first week!

For those that haven't had a chance to get down to site here is a short timelapse for the first 4 days.  The last day (Friday) which hasn't been captured saw the roof installed onto the frame.

I'll try to update on a weekly basis now with a time lapse for every week.

Sunday 16 August 2015

16 August - End of week 26

This was a fantastic week! On Thursday members of NLRC had a chance to walk onto the finished foundations and place their feet onto the floor of our new building.

Only two weeks to go before the timber frame arrives and we start to see the building grow up!

Short video below from the visit this week. Best viewed in 1080p HD!

Wednesday 5 August 2015

2 August - End of Week 24

Still lots of activity at the site, the foundations are now nearly completed.  All the waste pipework is in as well as the lift shaft.  The front portion of the foundations has all the metal work in place and just needs to have the concrete poured in.  Once this has been done the foundation slab is complete and work can start on the timber frame (should start around end of August) and the walls.

The site manager is arranging as chance for members of the church to walk onto the site on Thursday 13 August between 19:00 & 20:00.

That's a lift shaft...not a baptistery!

Thursday 16 July 2015

16 July - Week 22

The building continues to take shape with the foundations and floor at the back of the building completed.  Drainage work is taking place now around the perimeter of the building because the clay based soil is so good at holding water that we have needed to invest in some special drainage to remove surface water.

The timber frame work is looking set for the end of August now so work is continuing on the rest of the foundations, drainage work and service ducts.

Thursday 25 June 2015

25 June - Week 19

Sorry for the late update but I couldn't get to site!

However, it's worth the wait because now you can see part of the sub floor in as well as all four walls. You get a real sense of the shape of the build with the curved front walls.

I've tried a different video technique this week to get better quality video, especially for those that can't get down to the site...enjoy.

Friday 12 June 2015

12 June - End of week 17

Good progress has been made this week and now you can really see the shape of the foundations taking place.  You can even see where the frame is going to go if you look carefully!

You may be wondering where the front of the building is... well they need to pull in loads of concrete soon so they're leaving the front wall until all the concrete has been bought in.

Once the walls and floor are done the frame can start.

Monday 8 June 2015

7 June - End of week 16

The weather hasn't been amazing this week with strong winds and heavy rain but progress continues steadily. Three walls are now being built and we're starting to get a feel for the shape of the building.

"All the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid." Ezra 3:11

Monday 1 June 2015

31 May - End of week 15

Work has continued digging out the footings on the North side of the plot whilst on the South and East side foundations have started to be built.

This is always the hardest part of the build, lots of work going on but very little to show for it!  The rest of the trees have been removed though and the footings and foundations are starting to take shape.

Tuesday 26 May 2015

24 May - End of week 14

Work continued leveling the site and clearing away the tonnes of soil, rocks and trees. By the end of the week  the footings had been dug and reinforced concrete had been placed into the left hand side and rear footings.

Still a long way to go but by the end of next week it should be easy to see the footprint of the new building.

Monday 18 May 2015

17 May - End of Week 13

The site has now been leveled and is ready for digging the foundations and footings. Tonnes of material needs to be removed from site including trees but progress is steady.

Next week we should start to see the shape of the foundations take place, the footprint of the building.

The project is slightly behind schedule but it is hoped to recover this lost time over the next few months.

13 May - Week 13 - Ground works start

Well after a few weeks work has finally started on the site.  This is it, the foundations are being dug out ready for our new building! So, here are some pictures from the site this week and regular updates will follow now.

Tuesday 14 April 2015

11 April - End of Week seven

Just a quick update. Nothing has changed on site this week, but we are expecting work to start on the new build soon...so watch this space!

Saturday 4 April 2015

4 April - End of Week six

Well, nothing much has happened over the last two weeks but that will change soon. The builders will arrive on site mid April and start work on the new building so there should be lots of updates!

Sunday 22 March 2015

22 March - End of Fourth Week

The site continues to be cleared and is now almost complete.  The demolition team have even done a spot of gardening and removed all the bushes and shrubs surrounding the site. All that is left over now is the dividing wall between the garages and the main building.

Now the site has been cleared you get a real feel of the size, it looks a lot bigger!

This is a short aerial video of the site, it's my first one so please excuse the quality.
The next ones will be much better...

Saturday 14 March 2015

15 March - End of third week

Well, lots has happened this week!  The roof was stripped on Monday, then partially removed Tuesday. Wednesday the building started to be taken down and by Friday it's all but gone.  Significant progress made by the demolition team (Robin Thomas, Caernarfon).

Just the garages to be removed now and the site will be cleared ready for the new building.
